Job summary

The Field Technician will be primarily responsible for handling level 2 support calls, new workstation setups, installation, and deployment, as well as troubleshooting hardware issues, desktop operating systems, security, and other application issues. Our perfect candidate will possess a great degree of customer service skills and be able to effectively communicate with clients/customers and follow through on all work assigned. May include daily travel to local clients.

Summary of essential job functions
  • Track & Update events in our professional services automation software in a clear & efficient manner
  • Responsible for day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the following systems:
    • Operating Systems: Microsoft Server 2008 to the most current version, Microsoft Windows 7 to the most current version, Apple macOS and iOS
    • Enterprise Software: Microsoft Office 2013 to the most current version, Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, endpoint security, and mobile device management
  • Experience with computer compliance requirements as it relates to software patching, disk encryption, and endpoint security
  • Experience in support of desktops, laptops, servers, and mobile devices
  • Troubleshooting, determining root cause, and repairing hardware and software problems
  • Assisting with the administration of server systems, including backup and system monitoring
  • Asset inventory of Identifying, tracking and decommissioning hardware
  • Problem resolution and escalation as needed
  • Orienting new end users in hardware, software, and network systems/services
  • Communication skills to participate in project meetings and technical work sessions with co-workers and customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to complete training classes, personal study, and certification exams as assigned
  • The ability to complete project and support documentation in a timely manner
  • The ability to look for business opportunities and communicate them to Management or Sales
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience in computer hardware troubleshooting, new setups, and installations
  • Minimum 3 years experience in troubleshooting and supporting Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office suites, and Office 365
  • Minimum 2 years experience with application/software installation, upgrades, and support
  • Experience with local and network printer support
  • Experience with using computer imaging solutions
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information’s Systems or similar, or equivalent work experience
  • CompTIA A+ certified
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working for an MSP/IT consulting firm providing local and remote support
  • Office 365 certifications
  • Apple macOS certifications or multi-year experience with operation and support of macOS
  • Experience with ConnectWise and Automate/Labtech or similar PSA and remote management and monitoring software
