As personal computing devices became mainstream in the 1990s,
Providence Life Services began adopting servers, networks, and computers to operate financial and
resident management software applications. Providence partnered with two other senior living
organizations to develop one of the first resident census, billing, and claim submission tools in
the senior care market. Other senior living providers began to adopt this application, and they
engaged Providence’s IT department for consulting services to help their organizations implement
technology platforms.
Launch of ProviNET Solutions
By the late 1990s, Providence Life Services offered additional management services to senior
living providers under the name Providence Management and Development Company, which included an
expanded technology-consulting department named ProviNET Solutions.
Acquisition that Upstarted ProviNET
In 2002, ProviNET acquired a local managed IT services provider with a like-minded mission and
core values. With that acquisition, ProviNET gained additional technical staff members, as well
as a regional small and medium business customer base in the greater Chicagoland area.
